May Flowers by Mark Clark
The old adage is true, "April showers bring May flowers." There is a season and a cycle to God’s creation. He designed things to have a rhythm and a sequence. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven."
The next seven verses of that chapter chronicle many of the events, circumstance, and seasons of life. We have all faced them, or will face them, in the course of living. We have experienced the bundle of emotions associated with birth, death, planting, harvesting, mourning, laughter, etc.
Lake Aurora goes through its own cycles of life. The summer season is our out and out busiest with 31 sessions in 9 weeks. Last summer brought 1828 campers up our drive ways. 419 volunteers made it possible to minister to these campers. 213 decisions were made to be more Christ-like with 132 of those resulting in baptisms.
The retreat season is now a nine month marathon. We average 125-150 retreaters a weekend. They range from kids to senior adults and hail from a diverse number of religious heritages. Add into that schools, clubs, para-church organizations, and corporations. We also have our own schedule of retreats!
Pray for us as we enter our "summer season." Prayer for us as we provide opportunities of enrichment: in personal relationship with Christ, fellowship with one another, and discovering God’s will.
