| August celebrations include staff birthdays of Bob Miller on the 25th. We are thankful for Betty King, housekeeping department, as she completes her 6th year on staff on the 29th. Please forgive as we forgot to list Mark Clark's birthday on July 15th! Mark also complete his first year on the 8th and Cami Schwingel completes her first year on the 18th. | |

The Lindstamer's are starting a new chapter in their lives and have relocated to North Lakeland as of July 1. We are honored by their service to Christ on the Lake Aurora campus and ask fro your prayers as they begin a new ministry direction. | |

Staffing the retreat season is always a challenge. Please pray that ministry-minded people can be employed to serve in the kitchen and on the waterfront. |
The Dog Days of summer are upon us. Those hot sticky days of high temperatures and higher humidity are here to stay. The coming of those days also mark the end of the summer camp season for us here at LACC.
I know the calendar says it isn’t the end of Summer until September 22, but the Dog Days have come and school will soon resume—as far as I am concerned the summer is over. But believe me, our ministry has not ceased.
We now enter a new phase of ministry here at LACC. The month of August is a busy time of extending our ministry to outside groups who come to rent our facilities for camps, college sport teams training and team building, corporate team building, orientation and training for groups and individuals preparing to depart for short term missions, etc.
This time between Dog Days and Schools Days is a microcosm of our ministry: days of camp for youth; retreats for adults and teens; corporate and civic groups; leadership meetings; team building. Many of these groups have developed a lasting relationship with Lake Aurora. We have become partners in ministry even though we come from different religious heritages, ethnic and racial groups, and cultural backgrounds.
For others, we are very different from the retreat centers they might usually rent for their corporate or civic events. We deal with them in a professional and courteous manner, demonstrating all the characteristics they might desire from their own staff, but with a marked difference.
Our retreat season is very important to LACC. It allows us to maintain our facilities, stimulate our cash flow, and keep the excellent staff that has been assembled over the years. But best of all it allows us to demonstrate the excellence that should be the hallmark of any Christ centered organization—be it a congregation, mission, or para-church ministry. They see Christ in us.
