| Jill McGaffigan resigned October 24 from Director of Donor Relations and will be joining her husband in his Northwestern Mutual business full time. Jill has been a enthusiastic part of our team for six years and we will miss her. Please keep this transition in your prayers. | |
| From our family to yours, Merry Christmas. May Christ light your way into the new year. |
Gifts come in all manners of size, shape, and value. Some are random and bought off of bargain tables while others are given careful thought and purchased at the perfect time for maximum value. Some gifts are given to influence, while others are given in spite of influence.
Each of us, if pressed, probably has a favorite or most memorable gift. It might be the one that surprised because of source or cost. It might be the favorite because it was perfect. It might be the one that was priceless.
All of these describe the greatest gift of all. It was surprising that the most perfect and priceless gift might be given to us when we were the least grateful and least deserving. It came to us from the most unlikely of sources.
Romans 5:8 sums it up so beautifully: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Christ in his perfection came to take away our sins and claim us for his own. Not because of our greatness or prowess, but of the destitution of our sinfulness.
Celebrate the greatness of God’s mercy in this Christmas season by demonstrating his generosity. Open your hearts, your homes, and your wallets to those around you. Share generously to those in need. Let the love of God be seen in you, and through you.
Thank you for partnering in the ministry of Lake Aurora. May God’s generosity be seen in us through your prayers, servant hood and gifts. To God be the glory!
