Here is a look at life on the Peace River. Campers spend their first night on the Lake Aurora campus then travel to the Peace River on Monday. Monday & Tuesday night are spent on the river banks in tents, returning to Lake Aurora for Wednesday night dinner and debriefing. Campers experience approximately 30 paddling miles over the course of the trip. A Red Cross certified lifeguard accompanies every trip for swimming and general safety.

Typical Peace River Canoe Trip Schedule

Sunday    4 pm     Check in
                5 pm       Orientation & Tent set up on Lake Aurora Base camp site

                6 pm    Dinner

                6:45    Swim and canoe skills orientation and test

                8:30    Trip introduction, break into food groups, food orientation

                            Campfire & Devotions

                11 pm    Lights out

 

Sunday night and Wednesday night canoe campers are on Lake Aurora property. Canoers leave Monday about 11 am for the Wauchula boat ramp.  Campers will canoe approximately 30 paddling miles throughout Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Canoers primitive camp along the Peace River banks on Monday and Tuesday nights. They arrive at Gardiner Boat ramp in Zolfo Springs on Wednesday afternoon and return to the Lake Aurora campus for dinner. Thursday morning campers are cleaning up gear and having closing session and will be ready for pick up at 10 am.
