Summer 2008 Schedule
Using a backdrop of primitive tent camping and campfire cooking experience a camp that will challenge you spiritually & physically while living in and exploring a wilderness setting Principles from scripture are explored while learning compass/navigation skills, knots, & fire/shelter building. Led by a United States Army Special Forces trainer who loves the Lord and values the lessons learned through His creation.
Spiritual Survival Camp is in its 6th year and a very unique opportunity. Campers can expect to learn and become familiar with basic survival techniques and principles. We will be exposed to training in first aid, water procurement/purification, traps and snares, emergency preparedness, fire building, cooking, navigation, Knot tying, signaling, and shelter building. The knowledge gained will be the building blocks of wisdom that can be applied to the rest of our lives. Jesus often taught through parables and veiled truths in symbolism. When we seek to view the world around us in light of the knowledge we gain, life-changing truths will be unveiled to us. These truths will allow us to clearly see practical applications that will strengthen our faith, instill confidence, develop leadership, and inspire teamwork for the rest of our lives.
The primary goal of Spiritual Survival Camp is that participants will clearly see the world around them and clearly hear God’s voice leading them. When spiritual truths and principles are unveiled, successful participants will have a radical impact on their world. Such impact is a natural result of prayer, scripture memory, listening to God, and healthy perspective of spiritual warfare. God’s grace will be confirmed in amazing ways and campers will have renewed appreciation for so many things that we daily take for granted.
Fear is survival’s number one enemy. The church, as well as today’s youth , are in desperate need of faithful leadership that is not afraid to stand for what is right and boldly face the challenges ahead. We will spend time around the campfire and meals discussing current issues that threaten the survival of teens. Weather a camper is new to Christianity, or already active as a Christian leader, they will gain plenty and be blessed by the experiences and insights of Survival Camp. I believe in working hard and playing hard! Along with mosquitoes, sweat, and rain, there will be even more laughter, smiles, love and lasting friendship! This will be our 6th year for Spiritual Survival Camp. Veterans (both boys and girls) continue to return year after year. Each year’s experience is as unique as the campers who participate. The program is flexible and tailored in order to maximize the spiritual growth potential of each camper.
I am looking forward to a great summer! Please be in fervent prayer for this program as well as all the other fantastic opportunities offered by Lake Aurora.
