McGoogan is a public school fourth-grade teacher at Narcoosee Community School in St. Cloud who has been teaching for 14 years.
McGoogan spent forty years as a student, entertainer and teacher of dance before following her calling into public school education. “I graduated from college at the age of 56 and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime,” she said. “I became a teacher!”
McGoogan has received numerous other awards for excellence in education in the past, National including the 2005 National Christian Educator, the Disney National Elementary Teacher of the Year 2003 (American Teacher Award); the Disney Teacherific Special Judges Award, 1995, 1998, 2001, 2003; and Osceola County School District’s Teacher of the Year 1997.

Gail McGoogan, our keynote speaker, will encourage you to imagine, create, dream and believe. Along with the entire retreat experience, workshops have been developed to meet your needs personally, spiritually, and professionally.

Housing is provided in both our Lakeside dormitory style cabins with screened in porches that overlook the lake and our cozy Hillside cabins. Each unit will sleep up to 20 people in 10 bunk beds and has its own bath and restroom facilities. Please state if you are unable to sleep on a top bunk and if you request the "Need my rest" dorm.
You'll have an opportunity to "shop" our vendors which include: Children's books, "She Beads", "Classy Creations" Silver jewelry, "Polkadots" clothing and gifts, "Learning Curve" educational supplements and of course, the "Lake Aurora T-Shirt Shoppe".
Bring a sleeping bag or sheets, blanket, pillow, towels and toiletries. This is a camp, so dress is casual. Bring a warm jacket for possible chilly weather or rain. Other suggestions are a notebook, flashlight, and umbrella. Some like to bring table games for late night laughs in the game room.
Check in begins at 4 pm on Friday with dinner at 6 pm. The weekend concludes on Saturday after lunch approximately 1:30 pm. Canoes and paddleboats are open before, during and after the retreat. (Please wear the provided lifejackets.)
