Lake Aurora is a 501(c)3 organization, accredited by the ECFA, committed to excellence, undergoing voluntary annual audits of its finances, and meeting industry standards of health and safety.

Tent Pegs
Newest Phase - "Roots Secure and Branching Out"
Branching out to build the large assembly building that was completed in December 2024! This large assembly building offers a spacious, climate-controlled area for our guests with special needs and those using wheelchairs, as well as a worship center for our campus-wide youth and adult programs. The final construction cost doubled from its 2020 estimate after $1.2 million in savings. A construction loan was obtained from Christian Financial Resources to finish the build. We are working to pay off this loan as quickly as possible. From December 2024 to December 2025, over $700,000 was paid off on the construction loan.
Our current goal is 100 NEW Tent Peg donors. A Matching Gift of $55K for the first 50 Tent pegs. As of March 2026, 43 new donors have committed $25 per month for three years. ($300 a year or $900 total)
Historically, our previous goals retired a $720,000 mortgage 40 months early (January 2020), saving nearly $70,000 in interest through 450 tent peg commitments.

What does a "tent peg" do for Lake Aurora?

It's a stake. Tent Pegs are our primary source of expansion and major improvements.

Allow for growth! While $25 a month may seem small, when combined with 450 others, it will provide a consistent cash flow to build the needed program space debt-free.

It involves everyone. Teamwork gets the job done! Christians working together display the awesome power of our God. Whether it is a one-time gift of $900 or $25 a month over three years.

It moves us beyond today into tomorrow. Never has there been a better time to pool our resources to expand a ministry where one can 'be still and know that I am God'.

With the debt paid, our roots are now secure, and we are free to branch out to the next opportunity. We will continue to use the 'Tent Peg' to reach these goals.
Current On-Going Upgrade Projects
Future Lakeside Chapel Renovation
Approx. $25,000
The Herman and Sadie Davis Porch... a walk-out, second-level porch for the Lakeside Chapel overlooking Lake Aurora, with indoor, inclusive restrooms. The Davis family was the original caretakers for Lake Aurora in 1947.
Hillside Campus Completion
Approx. $ 700,000 each unit - Two footprints are needed to complete the Hillside campus, which will consist of two cabins combined with a meeting space in the middle of each, with a wrap-around porch. This restructure of the existing cabins will provide standalone retreat spaces for small groups up to 40. It will provide additional space to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities.
Tree Lift for Grounds Upkeep
Approx. $17,000
The 2026 Men's Retreat Offering Project's goal is to fund the purchase of this equipment to help the team keep the trees healthy, keep pathways, roads, and buildings clear of dangerous branches, and more easily maintain the high ropes courses for structural integrity and to avoid tree obstructions.
Kitchen Hood Replacement
Approx. $10,000 - The 2026 Women's Retreat Offering Project funds the replacement of the hood system in the Dining Hall kitchen. This is a vital part of the kitchen's safety equipment and has been repaired multiple times over the last 31 years. It is time to replace it completely.
